PCI Bridge components are used to interface a PCI bus to a processor without effecting the design of the interface. PCI bridges allow the design of the bus to be independent of the that of the processor. The component enables all of the PCI data transfers to be sent as burst transfers, which significantly reduces the system overhead by utilizing the efficency of the PCI bus.
